ASTM A270 sanitary stainless steel pipe shall be noted below points during manufacturing processes:
- 1)ASTM A270 Seamless steel pipe should not contains any kind of welding processing.
- 2) ASTM A270 Welded steel pipe applied in automatic welding processing, but should not use metal materials as filler.
- 3) ASTM A270 Heavily cold worked (HCW) tubes shall be manufactured by cold working of not less than 35% reduction of thickness of both wall and weld to a welded pipe prior to the final anneal. Filler materials shall be noted added during welding process. The weld shall be 100% radio graphically inspected in accordance with ASME boiler and pressure vessel standards specification.
- 4) ASTM A270 Sanitary pipe could be furnished with hot finished or cold finished at Manufacture’s option.
ASTM A358 pipe is suitable for corrosive, high-temperature service, and general applications. ASTM A358 material weld defects shall be repaired by removal to sound metal and rewelding. ASTM A358 TP304 stainless steel pipe suitable for corrosive or high-temperature service, or both, or for general applications. ASTM A358 GR TP316 pipe dimensionless designator NPS (nominal pipe size) has been substituted in this standard for such traditional terms as “nominal diameter,” “size,” and “nominal size.”
For corrosion and high temperature service, normally not less than 8 in. nominal diameter. Types ASTM A358 304, ASTM A358 316, ASTM A358 309, ASTM A358 310, ASTM A358 321, ASTM A358 347, ASTM A358 304L, ASTM A358 316L, ASTM A358 304H, ASTM A358 316H. Five classes of ASTM A358 pipe are covered as follows:
ASTM A358 CL1 - ASTM A358 Class 1 Pipe shall be double welded by processes employing filler metal in all passes and shall be completely radiographed.
ASTM A358 CL2 - ASTM A358 Class 2 Pipe shall be double welded by processes employing filler metal in all passes. No radiography is required. ASTM A358 CL3 - ASTM A358 Class 3 Pipe shall be single welded by processes employing filler metal in all passes and shall be completely radiographed.
ASTM A358 CL4 - Same as ASTM A358 Class 3 except that the weld pass exposed to the inside pipe surface may be made without the addition of filler metal.
ASTM A358 CL5 - ASTM A358 Class 5 Pipe shall be double welded by processes employing filler metal in all passes and shall be spot radiographed.
